The recent teacher layoffs in public education left many educators idle and without any real new career direction. This is understandable since teaching in one physical classroom online physical campus had become normal for decades. However, that normal is now not viable since the indications of emerging trends concerning the financing of public education seem to indicate more layoffs in the near future. These changes in the academic employment model require a new perception on the part of academics with graduate degrees and teachers with an undergraduate degree willing to earn a doctorate or master degree. The way to stay busy today, which means being employed and earning a living wage, is by teaching online college classes in online degree programs. The academic administrators are settled in their conviction that the academic labor force should be comprised of an army of online adjunct instructors. Fortunately, an online adjunct teaching from a personal computer can generate multiple online adjunct income streams throughout the calendar year. The aggressive educator with the ability to use a personal computer to navigate the Internet and locate the faculty application sections at the thousands of community college, for-profit college and state university websites can begin acquiring multiple online college classes to teach.

The really interesting aspect of distance education is that it represents an academic field of action in the form of online college degree programs. The traditional form of academic employment is fading into history as a result of severe budget cuts to the faculty salary component of the public education budgets. The new opportunities for a career educator are located on the Internet and the academic that understands that can begin constructing an online teaching schedule that will produce a variety of income streams every month of the year. In general, online college courses are offered in the same numbers during the summer months as well as the two long traditional semesters, so an online adjunct instructor with a variety of online adjunct jobs can teach constantly as opposed to being unemployed by layoffs and not being able to teach at all. There any many academic employment websites that should be monitored for announcements of online teaching openings with colleges and universities, but a more productive approach to finding online college degree programs to teach for is to apply directly at the thousands of online faculty application sections located in the website of post-secondary academic institutions.

In the rearview mirror of academic history the traditional employment model for academics is receding at a rapid pace. The decreasing amount of budgetary monies available to pay teacher salaries in public education is creating a large pool of academics without any employment or income. The idea that upon graduation from a Ph.D. or master degree program the career track will lead directly to one physical classroom on one traditional campus is no longer viable for the vast majority of intellectuals. Today the greatest chance of actually earning a living wage for education is in becoming a member of an online adjunct faculty at a variety of community colleges, state colleges, four-year universities, for-profit colleges and technical schools. As more college and university students enroll in online college courses and attempt to earn an online bachelor degree the need for academically prepared and technically proficient online adjunct college professors will grow. The teacher with an earned graduate degree can begin today to apply for these online teaching positions by using a computer to visit the faculty applications sections of the schools’ websites. Once in that application sections it is a very easy matter to submit evidence of intellectual achievement and classroom experience. The development of a rotational application schedule will eventually produce enough online courses to fill an online teaching schedule and allow an educator to claim the bright academic future of online education.

For many educators now there is a growing desire to gain a greater amount of control over the academic income as a result of the teacher layoffs that completely remove the salaries in public education. The best way to gain academic independence is to understand that the path is paved with adjunct online jobs. In order to become an online adjunct instructor teaching for multiple accredited online bachelor degree programs and accredited online master degree programs it is necessary to have an earned graduate degree, doctorate or master degree, in hand before making the first application. Additionally, it is absolutely necessary to have mastery of a personal computer and an in-depth knowledge of Internet navigation. The reason it is important to have a graduate degree is that the accreditation boards for colleges, community colleges and universities require that all online adjunct college professors be academically prepared to teach at the post-secondary level. The computer skills and the Internet navigation skills are necessary because the online adjunct instructor will be required to move smoothly and quickly in and out of a variety of digital interfaces offered by the various online college degree programs. However, the teacher that satisfies both of the requirements can build an online teaching schedule containing as many as a dozen online college courses, and the online adjunct income derived from these courses can create an academic independence that is not possible to acquire while teaching on a traditional campus in one physical classroom. Many educators are hesitant about applying to teach for accredited online bachelor degree programs and accredited online master degree programs because they simply do not have any association with successful online adjunct instructors. This is entirely understandable since most full-time online college professors work exclusively at remote locations from their personal computers. This situation can be remedied by learning to use a computer to navigate the Internet in order to locate various discussion forums solely dedicated to the technical and pedagogical issues encountered by teaching online. In this way, most educators can banish any misgivings about distance education and its benefits for academics willing to learn how to interact with college and university students enrolled in online college courses. If nothing else, it will become patently obvious that there is a growing number of online adjunct professor jobs that need to be filled by academically qualified and technically prepared teachers. Once any teacher knows that there is an open field of online adjunct teaching positions waiting to be filled there is be considerably less hesitancy in evidence when beginning the process of making applications to teach online.

The differences for educators continuing to teach in physical classrooms and academics who have learned how to teach online for multiple online college degree programs are so distinct that they deserve mention. The biggest difference between these two groups of educators is the available response to looming budget cuts that result in massive teacher layoffs. The online adjunct instructor in control of an online teaching schedule can decline offered online courses or apply for new online teaching positions with additional online bachelor degree programs without suffering a loss of online adjunct income. On the other hand, a traditional academic teaching in one physical classroom on a physical campus has little or no recourse if dramatic budget cuts by academic administrators obliterates the salaries and issues a pink slip to the teacher. Obviously, under this economic rubric everyday is a good day to teach online college courses simply because the amount of online teaching and the resulting online adjunct income deriving from teaching for accredited distance learning programs is more stable than that which is earned from traditional academic work. The best method of discovering available online adjunct jobs is to use a personal computer to navigate the Internet and identify the link on the front page of community college, state university and for-profit college website that leads to the faculty application section. The effort an academic has to expend to build an online teaching schedule is considerable in the beginning, but the effort is well worth it since the economic dynamics of distance education are so different from traditional public education employment. For example, teaching in one physical classroom on a traditional campus produces one paycheck for the intellectual work required to instruct students, but a member of an online adjunct faculty at multiple schools that offer the online bachelor degree and online master degree can collect a variety of paycheck for the same instruction. Why this probably sound extremely attractive to the educators waiting for termination due to severe budget cuts to public education, it is online a deliberate combination of circumstances that can lead to online teaching positions. The first circumstance is actually beyond the educator’s control since it requires the existence of distance education technology mature enough to easily permit the deployment of online college degree programs in practically every academic discipline. Fortunately, this technology is already in place at community colleges, state universities and for-profit colleges. The second circumstance is the presence of affordable personal computers that will allow educators with earned graduate degrees to access on the Internet multiple online college classes that require a prepared online adjunct instructor to teach them. The academic that decides to take deliberate advantage of both existing circumstances can start building a viable career bridge out of the physical classroom today.

It is understandable that traditional educators are very hesitant to explore online teaching with online bachelor degree programs and online master degree programs. After all, teaching a college and university student from a personal computer all day is a relatively new development in terms of the academic labor model. The attractive part of online adjunct jobs is that they are growing in numbers with each passing academic year. As administrators and college students alike enthusiastically embrace online college courses as a panacea to the inefficient physical classroom on the traditional campus the alert teacher with a graduate degree, a master degree or doctorate, will take a chance and learn to teach online courses for a living. The best approach to searching for online college degree programs that need online instructors to visit the thousands of community college, state college, four-year university and for-profit college websites. On the front page of each academic website is an identifiable link that will lead to the faculty application section. The teacher with a modest level of technical skill can use a computer to begin making multiple applications in these sections every day. If nothing else, taking a chance on just a few online college courses can pay off handsomely in the event of another round of educator layoffs.

The drive to identify and access an alternative to teaching in the physical classroom is at the root of many educators’ efforts to compile online college courses into a teaching schedule and teach online for a living. This is hardly surprising since the uneasiness now a definable part of earning an income from a traditional academic position in public education is palpable on every physical campus. While it is true that an online adjunct with multiple online college degree programs in an online teaching schedule must work just as hard as the educator in a traditional classroom, it is just as true that the online instructor exercises much more control over the amount of remuneration for the intellectual activity required to deliver instruction to students. The reality of l teaching is that the online instructor can decided how many individual online adjunct income streams are collected each month. This ability to acquire additional online college courses that each pay an individual sum is a far cry from the one paycheck earned from the teaching provided in one school. In the end, the adroit academic that learns how to build a self-managed online teaching schedule has greater economic stability than a public school teacher waiting for further budget cuts.

The recent round of budget cuts in public education is causing economic tremors to run through the teaching faculty continuing to work on a traditional campus. There is every reason for a traditional academic in a physical classroom to worry about the next round of layoffs because the academic administrators do not seem satisfied with the reductions so far, and there are more teacher layoffs certainly around the next corner if the economy continues in its current direction. As preventative action goes there is little that an academic can do that will be as beneficial as being prepared for faculty budgets cuts with five or six online college courses in an online teaching schedule. It is possible for a technically prepared online adjunct to coordinate enough online classes while still employed as a state teacher to effectively neutralize the loss of even a full time income on a traditional campus. Granted, it will be necessary to engage distance education technology in addition to satisfying the academic duties and administrative tasks associated with the physical classroom, but it can be done with the right amount of focus and determination. Ultimately, the online adjunct income streams derived by teaching online will be quite welcome should further layoffs in public education suddenly end a traditional academic career. It is extremely easy for recent graduates of doctoral and master degree programs to remain starry-eyed about teaching career opportunities on traditional campuses because there is little if any discussion of how to survive as an intellectual in a rough economy. The recent evaporation of budgetary funds for public education faculty salaries is a serious matter insofar as the dependability of an income earned by teaching in a physical classroom on a traditional campus, and the best way to confront that uncomfortable reality is to become an online adjunct teaching multiple online college classes from a personal computer. Distance education technology has changed the nature of teaching by moving the vast majority of post-secondary instruction to the Internet. Further, the academic administrators are so impressed by the cost savings resulting from not using the physical college classroom as a vehicle for the delivery of academic instructions that they are deploying online bachelor degree programs and online master degree programs at an unprecedented rate. This means that the alert educators with graduate degrees, a maser degree or Ph.D., can materially improve their professional and personal lives by learning how to apply for online college courses within a growing number of online degree programs as a viable way to prioritize an academic career with online adjunct jobs.

One of the primary benefits of teaching online is the ability to engage the academic work from practically any spot on the globe. Simply put, online adjunct instructors can teach and earn online adjunct income in any geographic location that provides access to the Internet. The traditional educator in a physical classroom is anchored to one location, so if there is any desire to move about and live in or visit other locales is severely restricted for the extent of the public school employment. Of course, this inability to become and remain mobile can have devastating effects when teacher layoffs are resulting from intense budget cuts to faculty salaries. The online adjunct college professor with multiple online adjunct jobs in an online teaching schedule can continue to earn a full time income while traveling as much as possible. As more online college degree programs are offered to new and returning college and university students the more need there will be for technically qualified academics with the skills necessary to teach in a computer driven environment. The most productive search strategy for finding available online courses to teach from any physical location is to navigate the Internet to the faculty application sections of community colleges, state universities and for-profit colleges.

The changes in the academic labor model are startling to the vast majority of academics working on the traditional campus. After all, for many years the accepted employment procedure for a career teacher straight out of graduate school was to apply to a handful of traditional public schools and accept one teaching position in one physical classroom. This academic position would last for multiple decades and the educator would retire in the end with a healthy pension. Unfortunately, this model is no longer functional as the appetite for the expense associated with it is no longer being tolerated by the administrators that decided how much money to allocate to public education. Instead, teaching online for online college degree programs is a part of the unfolding academic history of delivering instructional information. The simple fact of the matter is that online adjunct professor jobs are a viable alternative to the disappearing traditional teaching position. The best way to discover the breadth and depth of online teaching opportunities is to use the Internet to visit the faculty applications sections of for-profit schools, community colleges and technical schools. The educator wishing to be part of the new academic faculty that teaches online should be advised that it may take as long as year to receive a positive response from an individual school, so it is important to continue making applications to additional colleges and universities.

The budget cuts to public education are creating a rocky academic employment landscape that can be smoothed out by building an online teaching schedule. Academics worried about their employment status in the physical classroom should make the effort to apply for online adjunct faculty jobs with online bachelor degree programs and online master degree programs because it is now obvious that the majority of post-secondary educational instruction is being moved to the Internet. The reason there are so many opportunities to teach online is simply because academic administrators are discovering that it is very cost efficient to provide new and returning college students with online college classes leading to an academic degree they can earn from their personal computers. Of course, each online college course must be taught by a qualified online adjunct instructor, so as the online college degree programs become more available the number of online teaching job openings grows at the same time. The academic with an earned graduate degree and a moderate level of computer skill can begin building an online teaching schedule by entering the required information about academic achievement and classroom experience in the faculty application sections of community colleges, four-year state colleges, state universities and for-profit schools. It will take a high degree of focus to organize a successful search for online teaching positions, but the effort will be worth it since teaching online can smooth out the academic employment landscape by generating online adjunct income all year long.

Financial security for educators teaching in physical classrooms on traditional campuses is becoming more elusive as public education budget cuts result in more teacher layoffs every academic year. Fortunately, there is an alternative to this scenario in the form of online college degree programs. Distance education technology makes is possible for an academic with an earned graduate degree, a master degree or Ph.D., to put together an online teaching schedule for academic security. The cost-efficiency of delivering post-secondary academic instruction on the Internet is appreciated by administrators at community colleges, state universities and four-year colleges, and the success of early adopters of this technology such as for-profit colleges has not gone unnoticed by these same academic administrators. The result is more online college classes at all academic institutions and a resulting dramatic increase in the number of available online adjunct faculty openings since each online course may have a qualified online adjunct instructor teaching it. In the end, the academic security of an online teaching schedule is superior to that in the physical classroom simply because there will soon be more students in enrolled in online degree programs than on traditional campuses.

One of the biggest questions traditional educators still working on a physical campus have about online teaching is whether it can overlap traditional academic employment. The answer is that it is possible to teach online while still teaching in a physical classroom. In fact, the current academic environment should be a strong motivation to begin building an online teaching schedule containing at least two or three online college classes before the possibility of another round of teacher layoffs begins in the coming academic year. The first step is to start identifying online adjunct openings in the faculty application sections of community college, for-profit college and state university websites by learning how to use a personal computer to navigate the Internet to the thousands of online degree programs. Once in the faculty application section of an individual school’s website it is easy to submit evidence of academic achievement and classroom experience. While it will take some practice to reduce the submission of academic credentials to a few minutes, the effort will certainly be worth it as the academic years go by and the numbers of traditional faculty positions are reduced even further by new budget cuts.

It may be difficult to find the bright spot on the traditional academic campus since the teacher layoffs seem to have no end. The nature of the educator with a graduate degree, however, is no one that gives up easily in the face of challenge, so an academic willing to learn how to teach online from a personal computer can actually produce a sunny academic forecast by understanding the role of distance education technology and how it is creating many online adjunct job openings. The aggressive online adjunct instructor can build an online teaching schedule populated with as many as ten online college classes. There is no doubt if each online class pays the online instructor two thousand dollars the online adjunct income can compete against a traditional faculty salary and win. Further, the online adjunct instructor can teach the college and university students enrolled in the online bachelor degree programs and online master degree programs from any place on the globe that provides a connection to the Internet. Obviously, it will take some focus and determination to transition out of the physical classroom and into an online teaching schedule, but teaching online for a living is preferable to watch traditional teaching jobs disappear at an increasing rate as budget funds for public education make the cost of maintaining the physical plants knows as campuses and the classrooms on them less affordable every semester. The best strategy for locating online adjunct faculty openings is to learn how to submit evidence of academic achievement and classroom experience in the faculty application sections of post-secondary websites.

When educators still teaching in the physical classroom or teachers recently unemployed as a result of public education layoffs think about the prospect of teaching online for online bachelor degree programs and online master degree programs the question of whether it can actually produce enough online adjunct income to make it worth the effort. The answer is that a full time online teaching schedule containing six to ten online faculty openings can generate an income that will equal or exceed that what can be earned by continuing to teach on the traditional campus. Of course, there is more than income available to an online adjunct instructor. For example, every online college courses is located on the internet. This means that all that is necessary to access the online degree program is a laptop computer and an Internet connection. Actually, it is this feature about earning an academic degree online that attracts so many new and returning college and university students. The point is that the online instructor and the college students do not need to be present in any one physical classroom in order to connect with each other. Since every post-secondary academic institution is deploying online courses as quickly as possible, the economic opportunities for educators with earned graduate degrees, a doctorate or master degree, and sharp computer skills is practically endless because it is easy to teach online for multiple schools without actually being on the schools’ campuses.

Any prospective online adjunct instructor wishing to successfully construct a career out of teaching online should realize at the beginning that singleness of purpose is important when building an online teaching schedule. It takes razor sharp focus to continually submit applications for online adjunct faculty jobs every day, but since there are thousands of state universities, community colleges, for-profit colleges, technical schools and four-year state colleges offering some form of distance learning technology to their enrolled students it is the only way to actually accumulate enough online college courses to teach to generate a full time living for an online adjunct wanting to teach from a personal computer. Granted, luck does play a role in the application process and it might happen that the online college professor is hired by several online college degree programs immediately after contacting them in their websites. More generally, however, it will take hundreds of applications for online adjunct jobs to secure six to ten of them. Still, since the teacher layoffs are continuing on the traditional campuses the effort is well worth it. After all, when compared to unemployment being able to earn multiple streams of online adjunct income from practically any geographic location in the world that provides access to the Internet is more than enough reward for the single-minded focus required to transition out of the physical classroom and into several online bachelor degree programs or online maser degree programs.

Any traditional educator can become a successful online adjunct instructor by making applications to online college degree programs every day. The primary requirement of any online instructor is time management, and any academic with years of experience in the physical classroom has mastered those techniques to a great extent. The difference between teaching on a physical campus and teaching online is that all of the academic work and the associated administrative tasks are located on the Internet and accessed from a personal computer. Of course, there is an additional element to being an online adjunct college professor that is not available in the traditional academic setting, and that difference is that an online instructor can market an intellectual and technical skill set to any of the over five thousand community colleges, for-profit schools, technical schools, four-year state universities and state colleges that offer online college courses to their enrolled students, and that means each one of the thousands of post-secondary academic institutions since they all employ distance education technology. The fact of the matter is that there are many faculty positions teaching online that must be filled by educators with an earned graduate degree, a master degree or doctorate, and a superior level of technical agility today and there will undoubtedly be many more in the near future.

When an academic first attempt to coordinate multiple online college classes with several online bachelor degree programs and online master degree programs it is often difficult to manage the various academic interfaces and manage the time required for interacting with the college and university students in the discussion forums. Fortunately, it is possible to master all of the online tasks and learn to balance the duties an online teaching schedule requires of an online adjunct instructor with practice and focus. For example, it will take some time for the new online college professor to adjunct to the idea that the academic workspace is any place on the globe that offers access to the Internet. This means it will be necessary to adhere to a strict number of hours each day that must be spent in the online classrooms. However, these hours can be at any time of the day or night, so there is a necessary adjustment to the traditional daytime schedule experienced in the physical classroom on the traditional campus. The distance learning faculty positions available at community colleges, state universities, four-year state colleges, for-profit schools and technical schools are a genuine boon for academics facing teacher layoffs as budget funds to public education are cut one again, but building and managing an online teaching schedule can provide a sustainable solution as long as a commitment to practicing the time management techniques needed to acquire balance as an online instructor is foremost in the mind of the prospective online college instructor.

While it may not have occurred to every adjunct college faculty member or to many secondary level academics with graduate degrees, Ph.D. or masters degree, there are undoubtedly a good number of qualified academics who have figured out that there is a real living to be made from accredited online education. After all, the proliferation of online bachelor degree programs and online master degree programs and the online college courses within them must be taught by someone with a graduate degree and the technical skills necessary to access the websites of the schools. It is an unavoidable conclusion that the college and university students currently enrolled in the numerous online college classes are not teaching themselves now nor will they teach themselves in the future, so who will teach the college and university students who enroll in online degree programs the next semester? There is no reason that the online adjunct instructor teaching these post-secondary students shouldn’t be the one of underemployed and unemployed academics that are growing in numbers that was almost unimaginable a few years ago. Granted, adjunct faculty members at traditional universities, community colleges and state colleges are all too well aware of how little teaching in a physical college classroom pays each semester since over the last decade up to seventy percent of the college faculty is teaching on an adjunct basis. So the goal of every academic with a graduate degree should be to develop an online teaching portfolio with six to ten online college classes in it because distance education technology is the future of the delivery of post-secondary instruction.

The academic is new to the idea of online teaching would rightly be concerned about how to go about locating prospective online adjunct faculty positions with the various universities, for-profit colleges and community college. However, there is another question should be addressed first, and that concerns which areas of academic study are most available to prospective online adjunct instructors. Educators with graduate degrees can rest assured that as of right now practically every academic discipline is represented in an online college degree program, and the greatest need for academically qualified and technically proficient online adjunct instructors is, typically, and the first year courses of any online degree program. This mirrors the experience on the traditional university or college insofar as it is easy to observe that the introductory courses are the ones that have the most students in them. Therefore, the alert online adjunct instructor will understand that he or she will have more success applying for online adjunct jobs teaching first-year math, psychology and composition. The best way to start investigating the potential of online teaching as a career path is to learn to use a personal computer to visit the websites of the over five thousand post-secondary academic institutions on the Internet. Every community college, technical school, for-profit college, university and college now has a fully functional website that can be reached by accessing the Internet from a computer. Once at the school’s website is important to locate the link on the first page of the site that will lead to online adjunct instructor to the faculty application section. Once in that section it is a very easy matter submit evidence of educational achievement, a graduate school transcript, and evidence of classroom experience. It will be necessary to make many applications to schools that offer their students an accredited online education, but that effort will be well worth it when the multiple online adjunct income streams derived from teaching students earning an online finance degree, an online accounting degree or an online business administration degree start to show up in the bank account of the online adjunct instructor.

Educators with graduate degrees, a Ph.D. or master’s degree, want and deserve teaching work that will actually pay enough to make the effort required to deliver intellectual content with it on a daily basis. One very effective way to achieve this is to teach students earning a distance learning masters from their personal computers. Distance education technology makes it possible for academic administrators to put into motion online bachelor degree programs and online master degree programs, and these online degree programs can provide work for academics that learns how to navigate the Internet and develop the rotational application process for multiple online faculty positions with many colleges, universities, for-profit colleges and community colleges. Unfortunately, there is no nearly enough participation in online teaching by qualified educators because it is largely a career option that is not discussed at length from the perspective of the real benefits of acquiring a full time online teaching schedule. For example, since all of the online college classes are on the Internet, the students enrolled in online degree programs that permit them to earn a distance learning masers such as an online masters degree in school counseling or an online masters degree in education can be reached by using the Internet to access the digital interface favored by the college or university. This means an unprecedented level of personal and professional freedom for the aggressive online adjunct instructor with excellent time management skills.

For example, if an online instructor want to pick up and leave the present geographical location and move to another city or another state or even another country, it is as easy of tucking the old laptop under the arm and heading out to the new place to teach online. There is no need to let the students in the online classes or the administrators for the online college degree programs know if the new location or the travel to arrive there. This reason it is possible to move about while teaching online also produces the ability to teach for college and community colleges that are far distant from the physical location of the online adjunct. So, it would be technically and realistically possible to teach students earning an online masters degree or online bachelor degree in six to eight different states. What is important is that the online college teacher makes sure to always have a connection to the Internet available because the online college courses are available to the students twenty four hours a day. Obviously, as more students with an earned bachelor degree will be eager to earn a distance learning masters because the employment opportunities are much greater for those with a graduate degree, so there is a growing need for academically qualified educators to teach the classes in the online master’s degree programs. The combination of mobility and expanding work for academics with the technical skills and academic qualifications to teach online make a decision to search for and acquire multiple online college faculty positions a very intelligent career move. The best way to start applying for adjunct online faculty positions is to go the thousands of post-secondary schools’ websites and find the faculty application section, which is ready to receive academic credentials.

The challenge facing educators with graduate degrees is economic in nature. The problem now is that declining budgetary funds dedicated to public education are disappearing at an alarming rate, and it is now clear as a bell that online teaching is a path to professional and personal sustainability for teachers that can deliver instruction on the Internet to college and university students enrolled in online bachelor degree programs and online masters degree programs. It is understandable that many public school employees are shocked by the events currently occurring in the academy at all levels, but the seriousness of the situation requires an immediate solutions since a return to the physical classroom is drifting future into the distance. The reason the physical classroom is not the place to earn a living as an educator is that distance education technology is a much less expensive vehicle for the delivery of post-secondary instruction. Of course, traditional adjunct faculty members at community colleges and state universities have been aware of the penetration of online college classes for the last decade. The academics that realize that accredited distance learning programs are the future of post-secondary instruction have taken advantage of the benefits offered to educators by online teaching and are now poised to accelerate their earning as a result of mastering the navigation of the Internet and the distance education interfaces that exist solely on it.

Teaching online as an online adjunct instructor is quite different from being a state public education employee. The primary difference is that the instructor is required to manage his or her online teaching portfolio as if it is a client list, as opposed to a single government employer. For many educators with a Ph.D. or master’s degree this is a radical departure from what was taught in graduate school. However, it is of the utmost importance for any person desiring to earn a sustainable living, which means actually generating enough income to pay the bills and still have something left over each month to put away for later, from teaching to grasp the availability of the online masters degree in school counseling, the online computer science degree and the online business administration degree. The fact is that student populations at community colleges, state colleges, for-year universities and for-profit colleges are growing daily as result of the economy, and the need for technically prepared and academically qualified online adjunct instructors is also growing as a result of this increase in enrollment in online college degree programs.

The best approach for discovering availability of online teaching positions is to use a personal computer to visit the thousands of academic websites on the Internet. Every post-secondary academic institution now has a website that contains a faculty application section. Once inside that faculty section, and it may take some looking around in the site to find it since every school has its own interface, it is an easy matter to submit the necessary academic credentials to be considered for online adjunct jobs with that college or university. Eventually, a positive response from one or more schools will be received by the prospective online adjunct college professor, and at that point the online teaching schedule will start to produce income in varying amounts.

It’s time for unemployed or underemployed educators with a earned graduate degree to join an online faculty and start teaching again in order to earn a decent living while gaining the bonus of geographic mobility. Distance education technology is now an accepted vehicle for the delivery of post-secondary instruction on the Internet. Fortunately for prospective college and university instructors each online college class within an online bachelor degree program or online master degree programs requires an academically qualified and technically adept online adjunct instructor to teach it. The employment opportunities for teaching jobs online are growing by leaps and bounds as a result of the adoption of distance education technology by both college and university students and the individuals that administer the budget funds on campuses. The academic administrators, deans, department heads and boards of regents, are desperate for a less expensive way to provide instruction than the physical classroom. Simply stated, it is far less financially onerous to provide students with online courses that lead to a health administration degree online, an online accounting degree or an electrical engineering bachelor degree online. The students are so familiar with the internet in general and with personal computers in particular that they are quite agreeable about enrolling in online college degree programs.

The educators with a Ph.D. or master’s degree and computer skills that allow them to easily move about the Internet can learn how to build an online teaching portfolio filled with multiple online teaching opportunities. The number of online adjunct jobs in the online teaching schedule can be scaled up and down according to the online adjunct instructor’s need for additional online adjunct income streams or extra free time to pursue personal business. The point is that as long as the deadlines of the online college classes are met the online adjunct is free to live anywhere he or she wishes to live as long as access to the Internet is available. This mobility is distinctly different than the strict geographic boundaries that must be observed by traditional adjunct college faculty members. In this way it is possible for an online instructor to continue to college a variety of online adjunct income streams while traveling or between destinations because today even airport lobbies have wireless connections available to the public.

The best way to begin acquiring online college classes to teach is to use a personal computer to visit the websites of the over five thousand community colleges, universities and for-profit colleges. All post-secondary academic institutions now offer some form of distance education to their enrolled students. Granted, the publicly funded schools are slightly behind the for-profit colleges in the deployment of online degree programs in almost every area of study, but they will soon catch up and will probably exceed the offerings of the for-profit universities. Eventually, every school will need large numbers of experienced online adjunct instructor. The academics that take advantage of the growth in accredited distance learning programs now will certainly benefit from having significant amounts of online faculty experience on their applications.

Currently, the education industry is not being kind to educators because the faculty budgets are disappearing at a very rapid rate. On the post-secondary level of the academy the situation is no better because over the last ten or fifteen years the vast majority of college and university faculty members have been employed as low paid adjunct teachers hired semester to semester with no benefits. While this is a difficult situation for an individual with a graduate degree, a master’s degree or Ph.D., it can be turned around by learning as much as possible about distance education technology. It will take some real work for the traditional secondary or post-secondary academic to master the dynamics of online bachelor degree programs and online masters degree programs, but once a clear strategy is outlined it will be relatively easy to start collecting an income, and a nice income, with multiple online adjunct jobs.

The reason for this dislocation in the academic labor market is the rising cost of maintaining the physical plant knows as the college or university campus. Also, the operating funds for a post-secondary academic institution, which come from the state treasury for the most part, are being cut to the very bone as a result of rising costs for practically everything else. The educator is in a corner in terms of career progress if the decision is made to remain in the physical classroom, and the chances of a traditional adjunct faculty member on a physical college, community college or state university campus ever making a real living are practically zero that this point. The alternative is to confront the academic situation and become an academic entrepreneur instead of merely a public education employee wholly dependent on state funds for an income.

The search strategy that best discloses possible online adjunct instructor positions is the one that includes a daily visit to several of the thousands of state colleges, four-year universities, for-profit colleges and community colleges with websites on the Internet. That is, every school now has a fully functional presence on the Internet that can be easily navigated by any educator willing to learn how to use a personal computer to access the academic institutions digital manifestation. These academic websites will reveal if the school offers an online degree in business management, an electrical engineering bachelor degree online or an online pharmacy degree to its student population. There will be a wealth of information about the presence of distance degree learning available to the prospective online adjunct instructor just by moving around within the college’s website, and once it can be determined that the university or community college is serious about distance education it is time to locate the link on the front page of the site that leads to the faculty application section, which is constructed to accept the required academic credentials for consideration of online adjunct jobs. Further, it is important to continue submitting online teaching applications even after acquiring a full time online teaching portfolio because the academic labor market is changing so quickly and so thoroughly that only academics that change with it will still be engaged in online teaching years from now.

It is extremely difficult for an individual with a graduate degree to confront successfully a layoff or temporary, part-time employment as an adjunct college teacher. Unfortunately, the current academic labor market is changing so rapidly that it is vitally important for any educator wishing to work at the post-secondary level to not give up on the search for adjunct online teaching jobs. What is fueling the change in the academy now is the maturation of distance education technology to the point that it is now quite attractive to administrators that have to meet the educational needs of new and returning college and university students without depleting the ever decreasing budgetary monies coming down from the state treasure. Holding multiple online college adjunct composition positions, online adjunct criminal justice jobs or online adjunct account jobs can go a long way to recovering lost income from teacher layoffs or from simply not having more than one or two physical college campuses to teach on in the general vicinity.

The economics of teaching online can seem pretty attractive when compared to being completely unemployed or partly unemployed as a teacher with a master’s degree or Ph.D. For example, an online adjunct instructor is not required to own or use a motor vehicle. Is does not need any deep analysis to understand how being able to avoid paying out a serious hunk of cash every week in order to drive to and from different campuses can actually become a sort of silent paycheck. Granted, there are still many pedagogical arguments against post-secondary instruction being delivered exclusively in a digital format, but many that make those arguments are most in need of a decent income and as members of the old academic guard have their own failing economic futures to defend against the encroachment of adjunct jobs online in the online military degree program, online nursing degree program and online accounting degree program.

In the end, the successful online adjunct instructor will learn how to think on his or her feet, so to speak, and give up the hopeless attempt to land a permanent state employee position, which given the current state budget conditions is a genuine relic of irretrievable past, as a tenured faculty member on a physical university campus, Instead, the effort of any person with the academic credentials needed to be considered for online adjunct professor jobs should be put into learning how to develop a rotational application strategy. It is vital for any prospective online adjunct instructor searching for adjunct online teaching jobs as a way to generate a decent income to understand that the competition for these online teaching positions is growing each day as more teachers realize that they will not be able to return to the physical classroom in order to resume their teaching careers. In addition, many colleges, universities and community colleges are still trying to catch up to the level that for-profit colleges have been operating at for at least a decade in the sense that the for-profit colleges such as Phoenix, Argosy and ITT Technical Institute have been profiting financially and academically from distance education technology while the public academic institutions have remained behind the digital curve. In the end, the future of post-secondary instruction lies in online bachelor degree programs and online master’s degree programs.

Currently, there is a lot of economic pain in public education, and a lot of that pain is distributed among educators with earned graduate degree unable to hang onto their teaching jobs as a result of the faculty budget cuts. Fortunately, online adjunct instructor positions take the academic cake in the sense that they are the best for unemployed or soon-to-be unemployed teachers needing to pay the bills with the delivery of post-secondary instruction. It is first necessary to earn a graduate degree, a Ph.D. or master’s degree, in order to be considered for an online faculty position with accredited online universities, but if the individual is willing to enroll in one of the many online master’s degree programs now in existence on the Internet it is possible to build a full time online teaching portfolio that will provide much more sustainable income that continuing to teach in the physical college classroom. It time to face the reality that academic administrators with public schools have decided that the costs of maintaining and building out the physical plants called college and university campuses, and this includes secondary campuses now, prohibit the employment of traditional faculty members, and the faculty that have graduate degrees are the first to go under these circumstances as a result of the higher costs of employing them. The remedy for this academic situation, and the one that genuinely takes the cake, so to speak, is to start applying to online bachelor degree programs and online masters degree programs.

When online teaching is viewed by the prospective online adjunct instructor as a marketplace for academic and technical skill sets, it is easy to understand that new and returning college students actually want to earn a distance learning bachelor degree, an online law degree or an online nursing degree from their personal computers. Further, higher education is a very deep marketplace in that new and returning student populations are higher than they have been since the middle of the last century. Current estimates indicates that these populations will only go higher in the next decade as unemployment continue to be a severe problem and education will be view as the way to improve one’s career opportunities. Of course, each of the online education courses will need a qualified online adjunct instructor to satisfy the accredited boards.

The most productive search strategy for discovering accredited distance learning programs that need qualified online college professors is to visit the thousands of community college, state university, for-profit college and four-year college website on the Internet. Each of these academic websites has a link on the front that will lead to the faculty application section. The more applications to teach online that go out every day increases the chances of landing multiple online college faculty positions. As with any marketplace, it is necessary to continue assessing the conditions of the market. This means that technical skill sets will need constant improvement and upgrading, which mean learning new academic interfaces such as eCollege and Blackboard. It also means being prepared to decline offered online classes in favor of new online adjunct instructor positions occurring at new online degree programs.
